India is on the cusp of a revolution. Government of India’s ambitious projects such as setting up 500 smart cities, Digital India, Ganga Rejuvenation, upgradation of transportation infrastructure and others face significant challenges that will be possible only through adoption of cutting-edge technology. One technology in particular, The Internet of Things (IoT) is driving waves of innovation in the tech-world and offers promising solutions to such challenges.
The concept of IoT revolves around connecting various electronic devices via the Internet so that they can communicate with each other and make smart decisions. IoT can improve all aspects of our lives by improving almost every gadget or machine we use – from daily utilities such as washing machines, coffee makers, cellphones and fitness trackers to heavy industrial products such as jet engines.
How do we ride on top of this new wave of technology called IoT rather than just being a follower? India can develop skilled engineers who understand the details of this technology. For that to happen, our engineering students must be exposed to this technology from early on. This exactly is the motive behind the event “2016 International Symposium on Internet of Things”. This two day event is organized by a US based non-profit organization, Lab-X Foundation in collaboration with the Sardar Patel Institute of Technology. The mission of Lab-X Foundation is to develop India’s next generation of engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs by providing students with global exposure and opportunities to do hands-on research.
This event, set to be held on August 3rd and 4th at S.P.Jain Auditorium in Sardar Patel Institute of Technology in Andheri, Mumbai is unique in many aspects. Firstly, the event will be attended by industry stalwarts such as Mr. Juergen Hase (CEO IoT Business, Reliance Group) and Mr. Lee Stogner (President Vincula Group, USA and past IEEE Director). Secondly, a star studded list of researchers, academicians and global shapers in IoT will enlighten the participants about various aspects of IoT.
In addition to such talks, participants can get their hands dirty in IoT by working on practical projects in the Hands-on Workshop to be conducted by experts during this event. In line with ‘Start up India, Stand up India’, this event includes ‘IoT Startup Showcase’, in which participants will interact with leaders of top IoT startups in India and get inspired to start their own companies. They will also learn about opportunities and challenges involved in launching an IoT startup in India. Participants can also find opportunities for meaningful practical work in IoT by participating in the Internship Fair. And if you have a great IoT business idea, a research proposal or a cool prototype to show, you must participate in the ‘Demo-it’ Poster/Prototype Competition sponsored by Lab-X Foundation to win cash prizes and jump start your project/research.
This event is extremely beneficial to any student or young professional working in any engineering/ technology related field. Prior registration is must to be able to participate in the symposium. For more details on registration and symposium features,
